How to 3D Model: Fundamentals of 3D Design and Modeling

(Reflection Blog - Organizer)

The event, "How to 3D Model: Fundamentals of 3D Design and Modeling,” was organized by our team, ByteWise Matrix, featuring Ms. Princess Juliane Opiaza, a GC alumni and accomplished 2D/3D artist and animator, as the resource speaker. Held on November 21, 2024, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm via Google Meet and Facebook Live, our team took charge of the planning, preparation, and execution to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for the attendees. The event provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of 3D design and modeling, covering essential techniques and tools for creating stunning 3D visuals. It highlighted practical applications and inspired participants to explore the vast potential of 3D modeling in various creative fields.

As one of the organizers of the webinar, "How to 3D Model: Fundamentals of 3D Design and Modeling," I found the experience both fulfilling and educational. My role in group documentation allowed me to ensure that key moments and insights from the session were accurately captured for future reference. This task highlighted the importance of clear communication and meticulous attention to detail, as it involved documenting the valuable knowledge shared by our resource speaker, Ms. Princess Juliane Opiaza, a GC alumni and skilled 2D/3D artist and animator.

Through this role, I gained a deeper appreciation for the teamwork and organization required to execute a successful event. Seeing participants actively engaged and inspired by the speaker’s insights made all the effort worthwhile. Ms. Opiaza discussed foundational 3D modeling techniques, such as understanding shapes and proportions, utilizing software tools effectively, and applying proper texturing and lighting to enhance designs. She also shared her experiences in the industry, offering practical advice for growth and creativity in the field of 3D art. Being part of the documentation process gave me a unique perspective on how impactful events like this can be for aspiring creatives.

One of the key takeaways was Ms. Princess Juliane Opiaza's emphasis on mastering foundational 3D modeling techniques, such as understanding shapes, proportions, and scale. Moving forward, I plan to apply these principles in my own 3D design projects, ensuring that every model I create has a solid and realistic foundation. This focus on precision will not only improve the quality of my work but also allow me to design models that are more functional and visually accurate.

Additionally, the importance of lighting and texturing in 3D modeling resonated with me. These elements are crucial in bringing a design to life and making it more engaging for viewers. I aim to implement these techniques in my future work to create more dynamic and visually striking models. This experience has also demonstrated how sharing practical, hands-on skills can benefit participants in future events. By integrating these insights into upcoming webinars, I can help attendees apply what they’ve learned directly to their projects, enhancing both their skills and the overall impact of our sessions.

The organization of the webinar "How to 3D Model: Fundamentals of 3D Design and Modeling" received positive feedback from participants. They appreciated the smooth flow of the event, the clear agenda, and Ms. Princess Juliane Opiaza's effective communication of key concepts. The example videos she shared were especially helpful, allowing participants to visualize the techniques and understand how to apply them in their own work.

Attendees also valued the relevance of the topic, particularly the insights on foundational 3D modeling techniques like proportions, lighting, and texturing. The engaging atmosphere created by our team and Ms. Opiaza fostered a sense of community, making the event both informative and enjoyable for all involved.
