Canva Won’t Make You a Designer: Unlocking the Psychology of Graphic Design that Actually Works
(Reflection Blog - Organizer)
The event , "Canva Won’t Make
You a Designer: Unlocking the Psychology of Graphic Design that Actually Works,”
was organized by our team, ByteWise Matrix, featuring Mr. Paul Andre
Morandarte from Synthetiq Lab as the resource speaker. Held on October 19,
2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM via Google Meet and Facebook Live, our team took
charge of planning, preparation, and execution.
As one of the organizers of the webinar, "Canva Won’t Make You a Designer: Unlocking the Psychology of Graphic Design that Actually Works," I found the experience to be both rewarding and educational.
We ensured a seamless experience for the attendees, who gained valuable insights into the psychology behind effective graphic design. The event emphasized how understanding psychological principles can enhance design choices, leading to more impactful and engaging visual communications.
One of the key takeaways was Mr. Paul Andre Morandarte's emphasis on the importance of understanding user-centered design. Moving forward, I plan to incorporate this principle into my own design projects, ensuring that I consider the needs and preferences of the target audience at every stage of the design process.
Additionally, the insights on emotional engagement through color and imagery will be invaluable in creating more compelling visuals. I aim to implement these techniques in future designs, allowing me to connect with viewers on a deeper level. This experience has demonstrated how the psychological aspects of design can improve not just individual projects but also the structure of future webinars. By integrating these principles into our upcoming events, I can ensure that participants gain valuable skills that they can readily apply in their own design work. This will enhance the overall impact of our future webinars, making them more relevant and beneficial for attendees.
My role in facilitating the Q&A session allowed me to interact directly with the audience, giving them the chance to ask questions and engage with our speaker, Mr. Paul Andre Morandarte from Synthetiq Lab. This interaction highlighted the importance of open communication and connection during the event. Additionally, I was responsible for group documentation, capturing key moments and insights throughout the webinar. This task reinforced the significance of clear communication and teamwork, ensuring that every detail was recorded for future reference.
Seeing participants actively engage with the presentation and learn from our speaker made all the effort worthwhile. It was gratifying to know that we provided valuable insights and tools to enhance their understanding of graphic design psychology and its practical applications in their work. Mr. Paul emphasized the need for emotional engagement through color, typography, and imagery, as well as minimizing cognitive load to make information easier to process. He also highlighted the importance of visual hierarchy to guide attention, the value of consistency in design elements to foster familiarity and trust, and the significance of user-centered design in creating effective and meaningful solutions.
